Staying in Florence

Hotel Dino is a 3 star Hotel founded by the Messeri family in 1955.  It is situated in a splendid position near Florence and Fiesole, in the town called “Olmo”.  Olmo is about 500 meters high along the Via Faentina, which is a very suggestive route that goes from Mugello to Florence.  The Hotel has 3 parking lots as well as a garage.  Among the various services offered, there is a tennis court and a small busing service.

Besides offering a wonderful stay for those people who are looking for a friendly place to stay in a relaxed zone near the Doors of Florence, it is considered a stopping ground for lovers of trekking who desire to take the “VIA DEGLI  DEI”, which is a long walk through the Apennines that departs from Bologna and finishes in Florence.

Near by, there is the Santuario della Madonna delle Grazie al Sasso, a place where the Madonna has appeared many times.  The near-by zones are part of a natural protected area, which is the only place where Cisto Laurino (“Cistus Laurifolius.L”) grows.  Another interesting zone is the Santuario di Monte Senario where the friars produce a nice liquor called Gemma d’Abete, which is extracted from the buds (gemma) of the tree, just as the name suggests.
